My Curated Wardrobe

by veronika novotny

Rocky Point Park

Jan 26, 2021

This is my first time coming to the pier to take outfit photos in winter, and I'm obsessed. The moody vibes are definitely working for me. And gah, can I just say how wonderful it is to be back on the blog?? My health has a long way to go, granted, but having a space to show up for is doing wonders for my mental health. Even though my fatigue continues to be a constant struggle! Anyway, enough on that. I'm sure you guys don't come here to listen to my health woes. On a brighter note, and like insert all the confetti & champagne emoji's, Martin & I are renewing our wedding vows in February and I can not wait!! It's been quite the year, besides the pandemic, and this is the perfect way to sweeten all we've been through!

Outfit Details:

Joe Fresh Beanie (similar & so cute), Old Navy Peacoat, Old Navy Sweater, Levi's Wedgie Jeans, Old Navy Sneakers

As for my outfit?! This is pretty much my uniform these days. Last year, I was wearing all the fancy clothes, starting to work in a more corporate setting, and now my life couldn't look more different. All of a sudden... I'm left wondering, does my blog name Curated Wardrobe, still make sense? But I suppose it does! I still love my small & meaningful wardrobe - I just had fancier plans for my outfits when I launched the rebrand. Haha! But here we are, comfy, cozy & really not mad about it.

My Goals For 2021

Jan 20, 2021

Are you committing to any specific goals for 2021, friends?! No matter how big, or small, I always love having goals to work on. I feel like especially with all that's going on in the world, it's more important than ever! For me, feeling a sense of purpose, having tangible accomplishments (even if they're minuscule) is such a key component to mental health. If you've written out goals for yourself too?! I'd love to know what they are, so be sure to let me know in the comments below. Can not wait to start checking mine off & working on all the things. Yay!

1. Make health a priority - I've done so much already! I stopped drinking last year, started working with an amazing naturopath, have kept up with my prescribed supplements, and I'm eating a mostly vegan & high protein diet. I'd also like to cut back on coffee, and opt for drinking tea in the morning instead - my poor adrenals & nervous system desperately need it.

2. Commit to 4-5 blog posts per month - Providing my health can handle it, I'd love to commit to 4-5 blog posts per month. I'm still on partial bed rest and concerned that being too sedentary will hurt my overall recovery & stamina. While resting from a virus is great, too much rest can also lead to other health issues - it's a balancing act for sure. But for now, I'd like to commit to regular posting, and I'm honestly SO excited about it. Like get me the hell out of bed, please!!

3. Organize & style my closet - I'm almost half way there. I recently downsized & re-organized my closet, and now I'd like to go through & style all my outfits for winter. I'm thinking I'll utilize the Cladwell app for that. Do you use it? It's the perfect way to discover outfits and keep yourself organized!

4. Book regular social time - whether it's a Friday FaceTime call, or an occasional socially distanced picnic... I'd like to make my girlfriends a priority. I need it, we all need it. Can't wait to start this one!

5. Work out every morning - and when I say workout?! Considering my current health situation, it will be very chill and consist of stretching & light yoga. I hope to keep it to 10 minutes a day and then tack on a few minutes every few weeks. It's crazy how much of my fitness level I've lost as a result of being sick. Both my cardio and muscle strength are completely shot, but eye on the prize, because I know I'll be able to rebuild my fitness levels again.

As always, thanks for reading & supporting, friends. I honestly appreciate your readership and friendship so much. You've seen me through re-brands, numerous health problems and continually cheer me on - it means so much! Wishing you all a very productive (whatever that means to you) 2021. This is the year of no pressure, and no judgement. Am I right?!! xo

Day In Belcarra

Jan 14, 2021

This was my first outing since last summer, thanks to my mononucleosis (insert eye roll & me waving my middle finger) and fingers crossed there will be many more on the horizon. I wish I could say I enjoyed every minute of it - but truth be told, when you have debilitating fatigue... enjoyment isn't exactly the first word that comes to mind. But my current plan is to go out for an hour, or two, and then rest for several days after. It's hard! However, focusing on the moments that are good, helps, and trying to take life exactly how it is + keep faith things will get better is where I'm currently at. Here's hoping this is the year I regain some semblance of health!

Isn't Belcarra Park the loveliest?! It's such a vibe, and I feel ever grateful to live near the ocean. The area also has the most gorgeous walking trails, there are five in total, and range from 3 - 6 miles. Hopefully when I feel stronger, I'll be able to explore more and take you guys with me. Of course! The last time I visited Belcarra was this past summer when I met up with my parents for a socially distanced picnic. We chomped, chatted & sipped wine. Can't wait to do more of that come spring & summer!

Outfit wise, I kept it pretty simple. Because honestly, who the heck is dressing up these days?! My coat is from Old Navy and still available in the prettiest Hunter Green. My Hunter Boots are my fave go-to this time of year, and I noticed the dark blue ones are 40% off right now - such a good deal! I also did a little bit of online shopping this past weekend and bought the cutest chunky pom-pom beanie from Madewell + I bought their three-pack pleated adjustable face masks. I've been wearing surgical ones up until now, but since masks are now mandatory, and here to stay, I thought I'd splurge and get more stylish ones. I've heard rave reviews about the Madewell ones - so I can't wait to try them! Ok, that's it for now, friends. Hope to be back soon! xo

Happy 2021, friends. Cheers!

Jan 4, 2021 Vancouver, BC, Canada

A quickie post to wish you a very Happy New Year, friends! I think we're all rooting for glimmers of hope in 2021 and a return to normalcy. These days, I'm missing warmer weather and socially distanced visits outside with family. It's hard! But aside from the challenges, my hubby & I decided to celebrate New Year's Eve at home and make the most of it. I wore a festive dress, sipped Perrier and went to bed for ten. Ha! Clearly, my inner granny was out in all her glory. How did you ring in the New Year?! Judging by my Instagram we either drank with our spouse, roommate, or alone. But aside from the challenges, I'm still counting my blessings and toasting life as it is. Because after all, it's the life we currently have and staying optimistic makes everything a whole lot easier. Cheers to a slightly better 2021!! xo

PS - My dress is from Zara, but sold out. If you're looking for something similar?! I'd definitely recommend this beauty!
